KIDNEY FAILURE
Female patient
scheduled for kidney transplants because of autoimmune disease, referred by her
physician for a dental evaluation for possible negative influences, she
presented without any oral manifestations, had multiple crowns, history of a
nickel allergy, and upon investigation she unknowingly received crowns
containing nickel. Dr. Eggleston used
her medical and dental records to correlate a relationship between placement of
each nickel crown and increased levels of blood and protein in her urine. Upon replacement of her nickel crowns with
gold alloy crowns over a 6 month period, her levels of blood and protein in her
urine decreased to normal levels and her transplant surgery was cancelled. 20 years later she has continued to have
normal kidney function.
A case of
asthma from an upper full denture
Patient information
A 65 year old woman who has had asthma for more than 10 years, has allergic
reactions to all acrylic products, wear acrylic dentures
Main complaint
The patient suffered from asthma for more than 10 years ago. She noticed that when
she wore her acrylic dentures, her asthma would get worse, such as wheezy. She
complained that wearing her dentures always caused facial pain and burning in the
throat. Also the patient realised that her asthma had started after the dentures had been
fitted 13 years before.
Referral
The patient was referred by her dental surgeon to the Department of Restorative
Dentistry, University of Leeds and to the York District Hospital to confirm whether
there was a link between her long-standing asthma and the wearing of an acrylic
complete upper denture.
Diagnosis and results
It was decided to investigate the link between poly (methyl methacrylate) and the
asthma by monitoring the patient's reaction to different denture base materials. Test
bases were made of vulcanite, Flexiplast (nylon 12) and a clear heat-cured PMMA.
The vulcanite base was worn successfully for a 2-week test period. Then the clear
PMMA base was given, four hours after inserting the patient experienced a severe
asthmatic attack. A nylon appliance was then fitted and there was no adverse
reaction.
Assessment by patch testing of immediate and delayed reactions to the denture
materials and to acrylate derivatives was considered. Further testing was considered
to be clinically unjustified because the patient's history and the prolonged asthmatic
reaction to the wearing of the PMMA denture suggested such a high degree of
sensitivity that patch testing might precipitate a further asthmatic episode.
Treatment
A nylon denture with porcelain teeth was provided and the patient progressed
uneventfully.

NEUROCUTANEOUS SYNDROME (NCS), a dermatological and neurological disorder that can be caused by dental
materials which contain ethyltoluene sulfonomide (ETS) and zinc oxide (such as Dycal, Life, Sealapex, Fynal, IRM, and
Sultan U/P sealants). Characterized by neurological sensations, pain, depleted energy, memory loss, and itchy cutaneous
lesions that may invite various opportunistic infections.

From Dr. Gerald Smith’s web site at
www.icnr.com/cs/csindex.html,
there are 22 interesting
cases:
From Dr. Doug Cook
(educational video):
1. LINDA – She considered herself in good health, and was a competitive cross-country skier. It started while watching
television, it felt like a heart attack and she couldn’t breathe. Emergency Room tests came out
negative, and 2 physicians over a 2-month period couldn’t find a cause. At 4 months after the “attack”, she
had pain in her hands and legs, was tired, couldn’t walk, and frequently woke up in the middle of the night in
the fetal position. More tests found nothing, and her physicians suggested it was stress. Her mother asked
about her teeth, and her dental history revealed she had some minor dental fillings placed 3 days before the
attack.
Treatment rendered: She had all her amalgam fillings. Within a month, her arthritis was
gone, she regained complete use of her hands and legs, and again was participating in athletics.
2. RON - He had swollen and painful joints of a 2-year duration, had occasional severe episodes of pain requiring shots
of morphine in an emergency room, and irritability. No cause could be found.
Treatment rendered: He initially had 1 amalgam filling and 1 gold crown removed. Three hours later, the pain
and swelling in his right ankle and right wrist started to slowly go away. With each dental visit, he experienced
relief in specific areas of his body.
3. FATHER BERNARD GEIGER – He first began to experience attacks of ulcerative colitis 35 years ago. Acute
episodes gradually became chronic. He nearly died 3-4 times. Then a new diagnosis of Sprue was made.
Treatment rendered: Metals were removed from his mouth accompanied with steady improvement is his
health.
4. LEONA GORSKY – She experienced pain in her right ear, severe cough from a tickle in the right side of her throat for
the last 25 years, right lymph gland swelling, and “shocks” going through her right jaw. Three ENT specialists
couldn’t find a cause.
Treatment rendered: 1 small amalgam filling was replaced in the lower right quadrant, and her lower
chrome/cobalt and acrylic removable partial denture was replaced with an all nylon removable partial denture.
All her symptoms went away.
5. SCOTT – Chiropractor. Age 23, he had joint pain and was tired all the time. He tried vitamin C therapy and
changed his diet. At age 32, he tried homeopathics and a vegetarian diet. He experienced poor sleep, had
braces on both ankles, and had back spasms. His dental history revealed at about age 30-31, he had two
root canal fillings placed.
Treatment rendered: Amalgams were removed, the endodontically-treated teeth were extracted, and had
bone cavitation surgery. At age 37, he now runs, hikes, sleeps well, and has a full-time chiropractic practice.
6. BEATRICE NICKERSON – Math teacher. 5 years earlier, she was diagnosed as a diabetic with circulation
problems in her hands and feet. She was given medication to regulate her blood sugar. She underwent
chelation and 3 days later showed no signs of diabetes, but still had numbness in her legs and feet. Dental
history revealed she had 3 crowns placed 6 years ago on the right side
Treatment rendered: Metals were removed over 2 days and immediately noticed “feeling” in her feet and toes.
Electrical readings were as follows: Crown #2 – 160 millivolts and 1 microamp; Crown #3 – 220 millivolts
and 10 microamps; Crown #4 – 280 millivolts and 12 microamps
From Dr. Hal Huggins
(“Hidden Danger” video)
1. MALE – Presented with multiple sclerosis and confined to an electric cart. As dental treatment progressed for removal
of metals and root canals, he was able to get up out of his electric cart and take steps down the hall.
2. FEMALE, age 16 – Her dental history revealed she had 5 amalgam fillings placed over 2 days. She reported getting
sick in the dental chair and had trouble breathing. Tests couldn’t find a cause and psychiatric treament was
recommended.
Treatment rendered: Her amalgam fillings were removed and 4 days later had a complete turnaround.
From patients of Dr. Gary
Jacobson
1. FEMALE, young teenager – She presented with Bell’s Palsey on her left side which happened shortly after orthodontic
braces were placed. Her parents wondered if there was a connection. Physicians could find no cause. The
orthodontist said there was no connection. Dr. Jacobson thought there was and suggested removing the
braces to see if the facial paralysis would improve. The orthodontist reluctantly removed the braces, and her
paralysis went away within a few days. She discontinued orthodontic treatment.
2. MALE, young adult – He presented with schleroderma with no hope of a cure, and was advised to get his affairs in
order. He had his amalgams removed, and his schleroderma went away to the amazement of his physician.
From Susan Wahl, N.D. (www.thehawc.com)
"In 1983 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis , having
symptoms dating back to 1969. My condition was deteriorating and the doctors
could not tell me why. When I was finally diagnosed I was almost relieved to
know there was actually something wrong in spite of the grim future I was faced
with. In 1983 I was 35 years old, married with 2 young children. I found myself
raising my kids from a chair, unable to cross the street unassisted in warm
weather and unable to work. I used a wheelchair if I had to shop or walk any
distance."
"In 1994 I started working with Dr. Su and found that
I had an old virus, pesticide poisoning and dental mercury poisoning. I started
a regiment of remedies and felt a little better but did not follow through. Dr.
Su wanted me to replace my mercury fillings but at the time it seemed pretty
drastic. In October of 1996 I decided I wanted to feel better so I started
following the program by the book. By January of 1997 I began replacing my
mercury fillings and by mid March it was complete. Three weeks after the
completion, while setting in "my chair" feeling very well I decided
to go for a walk. I walked 1/4 of a mile down a walking path and back. Tears were running down my face, my feet were actually
picking up off the ground. Now 5 years later I am walking a mile, golfing,
exercising and working. I have changed from sedentary, ridged
and depressed to an active, vibrant and joyful woman. I continue to amaze myself, my family and friends." "Thank you
God."

" I Found Dr. Su when I was at the end of my
rope! I was so frustrated with the visits to the MD's and Specialists who
could not find anything wrong. They would give me medicine to treat the
symptoms but I was only feeling worse. I was having several health
issues, some of which were depression, weight gain, my
body holding fluid and problems caused by me perimenopause."
"My first visit to Dr. Su was incredible. She
immediately found my body was out of balance as a result of a thyroid problem,
hormone imbalance, poor diet, and dental mercury poisoning. I finally had
an answer for the way I had been feeling. She started me on homeopathic
drops, vitamins & minerals, and gave me guidance about proper nutrition for
me. Within a few weeks, I was starting to feel better. I had so
much more energy, the hot flashes were gone, and the night sweats were
disappearing. Even my menstrual periods were becoming regular
again. Best of all, the depression was gone and I was off all
medication. Things were improving but I was still holding on to the
weight. Dr. Su encouraged me to begin the process of removing my mercury
fillings and to stay with my new eating plan. I was so tired of
not having the quality of life that I wanted that I decided to do
everything I could do to improve my health."
"Today,
I cannot begin to tell you how much better I feel. I've lost
weight and feel more alive than I have in years! Dr. Su works to
heal the whole body....Mind, Body, & Spirit. She does not just treat
the symptoms, she finds the problems to correct. I realize Dr. Su can
guide me to better health but in the end I am the one responsible for
maintaining my health. I feel we are a team and she is my partner teaching
and leading me to a healthy life!"
"I thank God everyday for my health!!"

From personal discussions
with people I (Dr. Ronald King) have met
1. NUMBNESS IN HANDS, FATIGUE, UNCLEAR THINKING (K. L.)
“In 1995, while working full-time as an emergency room physician, I began to notice feelings of numbness in the fingers of both hands. It came and went over several months, becoming more and more frequent and intense. Finally, one night when a trauma patient came in by ambulance, I realized that my hands were so numb I couldn’t check peripheral pulses, and had to have a colleague to part of my job. During the time, I remember feeling more and more fatigued, and just “not right.” I wasn’t thinking clearly and certainly didn’t have my usual energy. I felt “toxic.”
I consulted a colleague who is a neurologist. After a full physical, she wanted to order an MRI on me, do lab tests, and try me on a trial of Neurontin. She was concerned that this might be a presentation of MS. None of that felt right to me. I saw another friend who is a chiropractor who helps people using more natural approaches. He did some testing on me and felt that I was both lead and mercury toxic. The next week, I visited my dentist.
All of my fillings (8) had been placed in 1967, and were reaching the end of their life span. While none of them “required replacement” according to my dentist, I knew they needed to go. Over a 3 month period of time, I had the mercury amalgam fillings removed from my mouth, and paid extra to replace them with composite fillings without mercury. Within 1 month of having them removed (and doing some oral detoxification), all of my parasthesias were resolved, and life was back to normal. It’s been 8 years and I’ve never had any other problem. As a physician, every time I read about how safe mercury is, I throw whatever I’m reading in the trash. I know what I experienced in my own body. I’m sure that if I had not addressed the mercury in my mouth, I would have had progressive and worsening symptoms, which may have become irreversible.”
Suspected dental etiologies: mercury toxicity, oral galvanism
